Nicholas Naughton-Rumbo
instagram.com/rumbo.xyz
Nicholas Naughton-Rumbo is a Gibraltarian designer based in Vancouver and the Design Lead at Kenshō Agency. His commercial work focuses on creating distinctive brand identities across a range of industries, while his independent and freelance practice explores design’s role within communities, with a particular emphasis on sports and music. At the heart of his work is a belief that design is a powerful tool for fostering shared emotional connections and collective experiences.
In his talk, Nicholas will focus on his work for the Vancouver Southsiders, the city’s largest football (soccer) supporters group with more than 450 members. A lifelong football fan, he serves as the group’s Creative Director, shaping how supporter culture is expressed both within Vancouver and to the wider football community.
Alanna Munro
arcanetype.com
Alanna Munro is a certified letter nerd and the main human behind Arcane Type Foundry—a foundry offering both an enchanting library of typefaces and charming custom type design. Alanna has spent more than a decade learning deeply about type design and pushing the technical capabilities of typefaces in her work.
Fonts can make a project more enchanting through their visual appeal, but the real magic comes from their functionality. Modern fonts can melt like ice, fight cyberbullying, and support an increasing number of the world’s languages. In this talk, Alanna examines what makes modern fonts so powerful—and how designers can use them to make projects more dynamic, expressive, and inclusive.
