Get ready to LAUNCH!
DesCan invites participants to build new skills, network with peers, and receive professional guidance. This 2-day conference fosters creativity and innovation through meaningful connections as attendees embark on the next steps of their design journeys.
They are welcome to join two days of learning, growth, and fun:
Studio Tours
In-person portfolio reviews
Opportunities to connect with friends and soon-to-be friends
Meetings with senior designers invested in supporting students
Day 1 – Studio Tours
Attendees will explore the possibilities after finishing their studies with tours of a local print shop and design studios (digital, creative, in-house).
Studios to be announced.
Day 2 – Portfolio Reviews
Open to students and recent graduates aspiring to enter a career in communication design, as well as students currently enrolled in a design program. Participants will share portfolios or works in progress with several industry professionals to obtain insightful and constructive advice about their current portfolios. This is a great opportunity to practice real-world interview skills and receive honest feedback in a non-competitive environment. It’s also an excellent chance to network with the who’s who of the Vancouver design community.
Note: Participants should be prepared to present their work on a laptop or as printed materials—no phones or small screens, please.
Portfolio Reviewers
Are actively working in the industry
Have 10+ years of experience and/or are CDP™ Certified
Know what employers and clients are looking for
Have experience in a variety of environments (solopreneur, in-house, agency, studio)
Work in advertising, communication design, branding, web, UX/UI
