Type Brigade is Vancouver’s typography meetup, and its 55th edition will take place on February 20, 2025.
The event will be held at the BCIT Downtown Campus:

Originally from Denmark, Julie Solvstrom now has the great pleasure of calling Vancouver home. She is an illustrator and lettering artist with a deep fondness for type, playful compositions, and bold color palettes. Her work reflects her love for the natural world, poetry, and human connection. The mountains and waters of British Columbia serve both as a backdrop for her active lifestyle and as a great source of creative inspiration.
In this talk Julie will take you through some of the bad decisions that led her, more or less, stumbling into a career as an illustrator and lettering artist. She’ll talk about passion projects, interdisciplinary collaborations, and sharing your work.
Brother Jopa (John Park) – Day by Day

Brother Jopa is a Vancouver-based self-taught lettering artist, muralist, and designer. Across various mediums and formats, calligraphy and hand-drawn lettering remain at the core of Jopa’s work, and his focus on community-building in the public art space has led to greater visibility for local artists and helped grow a saturated artistic culture within Vancouver. He will share his insights and personal journey in the art of calligraphy, and speak on the power of consistency in practice and life.
